Former street kid now an Entrepreneur
Danish ran away from home and lived on the streets with other children for eight years. Coupled with the fact that Danish was diagnosed with Dyslexia and ADHD, he has overcome incredible challenges and has many stories of courage and triumph. Danish is a graduate of Delhi University with an MSc in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the University of Bristol. With the aid of Salaam Balak Trust’s mental health team, he began making jute craft as a macrame artist and conducted workshops teaching this craft across schools and colleges in India. He is the co-founder of ‘Street Connections’, which is a social enterprise that helps other individuals from SBT and runs ethical tourism. Alongside Street Connections, Danish also works with an anthropology researcher from Japan and is writing a book drawing from his own experiences of living on the street. At Imagine 2019, Danish will share his journey of living on the streets, becoming a successful entrepreneur and the importance of giving back to the community.
